Chaturanga

Understanding Chaturanga

Instructor: Dr. Robert Adams, PT, DPT, OCS

Have you ever wondered what’s actually happening in your body during chaturanga? In this workshop we’ll break down the movement and explore what your shoulders are actually doing. Through simple anatomy, movement exploration, and hands-on learning, you’ll get a better understanding of this common yoga transition and why it can sometimes feel challenging. We’ll explore drills to help build strength, stability, and control that you can take straight to your mat. Whether you’re a yoga practitioner looking to feel more confident in your practice or a teacher wanting to better understand the movement, this workshop is for you! No previous experience with anatomy needed.

Robert Adams is a physical therapist with over a decade of experience teaching movement. He has led yoga teacher trainings and taught anatomy in both 200-hour and 300-hour programs. He combines his background in physical therapy with his passion for teaching to help people better understand their bodies, build strength, and move with confidence. His approach makes anatomy and movement concepts accessible and practical, giving students the tools to better understand and develop their own practice.
